Charity Support

We engage in many charitable activities, serving on international, national and local boards and committees for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Behavioral Diabetes Institute and many others. Here are a couple of examples of our charitable activities.

Charity Support - Carlsbad Half Marathon2006 Carlsbad Half Marathon

We participate in many fundraising activities. This picture shows Lorraine running in the 2006 Carlsbad Half Marathon in January (she appears to be leading the pack!). We were among the top five fundraisers for LifeSharing, the San Diego-based organ donation organization.

Lorraine and I co-chaired. We raised approximately $150,000 on behalf of LifeSharing - the organ transplant organization of San Diego. Over 250 people attended, including "Mean Joe" Green, Rolf Benirsche, John Carney, Kellen Winslow, "Deacon" Jones, Bruce Jenner, Willie Buchanon, John Brockington and dozens of other sports celebrities.

We are also very supportive of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Both of us have worked in support of the Community Health Charities of California. We worked for and supported the Stem Cell Initiative (Prop 71) which passed in the 2004 election, providing $3 billion dollars for research into issues we care about deeply.
